Iowa Beginning Farmer Tax Credit

5% of cash rent value / 15% of crop share value

Iowa tax credit for landowners who rent to beginning farmers at or below fair market value. Encourages farmland transition to the next generation.

Eligibility: Iowa landowners who rent to qualified beginning farmers. Beginning farmer must be under 40, or farming fewer than 10 years, with assets under $800,000.

Iowa Beginning Farmer Loan Program

~25% below market interest rate

Below-market interest rate loans for farmland purchase, agricultural buildings, or equipment. Funded through Iowa tax-exempt bonds.

Eligibility: Iowa residents who have farmed 10 years or fewer, are under 40 years old, or have a net worth under $800,000.
